The Place Opened about a month ago, I was excited to check out Restaurant Beurre as it has been awhile since there is something new in Bukit Pasoh. Beurre prides itself as innovative French cuisine, where its interior is contemporary yet simple, and sets the tone for a casual fine dining. The layout is a typical long shophouse space, where you get a glimpse of the open kitchen if you are seated to the front of the restaurant.
The Food The team here is fairly young as I noticed while walking past the kitchen, and I understand that there is a big love for butter in the dishes here. The menu is concise and easy to interpret, a one page design which splits the food into small and big plates. I started with what seems like an ‘atas’ brunch dish, the Omelette with Crab (S$18). Served with lobster bisque and topped with lumpfish caviar, the omelette here is wrapped with crab meat. The flavour is well-balanced, though I could only wish that the portion is bigger.
In contrast, I enjoyed the Portobello Mushroom Tart (S$19) more. Mushroom is one of my weakness, and this version did not
