Ji Ji Wanton Noodle Specialist 基记面家 – Famous Wanton Mee Stall Opens Full-Fledged Eatery. Noodles Priced Affordably At $4.80


Many of my favourite wanton mee stalls were gone just like that, may it be Kok Kee Wanton Mee or
Hua Feng Mian Jia which used to be at Tiong Bahru Food Centre.

It is usually the case of the family having no one to pass the skills to, because life of a hawker is just tough.

It made me treasure my hawker foods a lot more, and one of them is Ji Ji Wanton Noodle Specialist 基记面家 located at Hong Lim Food Centre.

The stall was set up in 1965 by Madam Lai’s parents, and she has handed over operations to her two daughters Kristen and Jill – who have both maintained their family’s recipe and legacy.

They really propelled to bigger fame a couple of years back, when it won the “Favourite Hawker” in the wanton noodles category by a huge margin, beating all the usual suspects.

The very person who recommended me this stall, was actually my mum who never failed to tabao 3 packets home. When I was a kid (okay, teenager), I would wait with anticipation at home for her to come back with the noodles.
